College Life continued...

The night of my birthday I was unfortunately because of poor planning, forced to pull my first semi all nighter of college. I had paper due on Tuesday in my Human Development class so I took a nap at about midnight woke up at 2 finished my paper from 4 and woke up for work at 6:30 for work! As fun as this was I hope to avoid it next week when I have two other papers due! I was really nervous for this paper, but yesterday I learned that I didn't have to worry too hard because I got a 56/60 on it which is about a 93%... needless to say after getting this news I was so so excited!! So the rest of my week went on as usual, boring assignments, and fun procrastination! Friday night for a belated birthday present my best friend from Idaho (Alyssa) took me to the Choir showcase which was really fun, but it was sad because I wish I was in it. (I didn't know about auditions until after they were over!) After this was over I went over to her apartment (she shares a room with another one of my really good freinds from Idaho) and we just talked and I got to know one of their roommates better. It was such a fun night, one of the biggest reasons I looked forward to coming to BYU for so long was because it meant being reunited with old friends! Saturday was a crazy day! My day began way too early for my typical Saturday... It started at 8:30 with a work meeting meaning that I had to be ready to leave at 8 so I would have enough time to walk from home to campus... then when that ended I got home with just enough time to sit for a minute and then I had a meeting at 10 for my new calling... visiting teaching supervisor... at 11 when that ended Kiersty came and picked me up and we went shopping! We were looking for a gray pencil skirt for my birthday but we didn't find one, instead I ended up buying a new jacket for myself. It is super cute and I am so glad I found it! We looked for a few hours and then at 2:30 I had to get home because my roommates and I were going to leave for Salt Lake around 3... I got home got ready for the Relief Society broadcast and around 3:30 my roommates and I left to go to Salt Lake to be in the Conference Center for the Relief Society Broadcast. We got there and got to our seats which weren't too bad! I loved so much having the opportunity to go to the Conference Center and it was just so neat to be in the same building as the Prophet and his counselors as well as the General Relief Society presidency and YW presidency. It was a wonderful broadcast and I loved President Uchtdorf's talk! (I loved the others as well, but I really enjoyed his!) After the broadcast we (my roommates and I) walked around Temple Square for a little while and took some pictures, and then we went with Lisa's mom and "sister" and her "sister's" family and got some food because we hadn't eaten in forever and we were all starving! It was really fun! And then on the way home it was so fun because there is a radio station here that has "Showtune Saturday Night" my roommates and I had TONS of fun singing along and guessing which musical each song came from! The week after the Relief Society broadcast I had my first week of midterms... I took a test Monday through Thursday beginning with Book of Mormon, followed by American Heritage, French, and ending with Human Development. I think the worst was probably my Book of Mormon, sadly, and the best one ended up being Human Development especially after my teacher decided to give everyone in our class a 3 point addition to what we got on the test so I ended up with a 91 instead of an 88! I was quite excited! Wednesday we also had a ward activity which was really fun! We tie dyed shirts and had a paint war, but I didn't really participate in the paint war because I didn't want to have to worry about washing my hair like ten times to get it all out! But, my shirt turned out pretty sweet! After I finished my tests I decided I needed a night to relax and watch a movie! It was really great to just be able to take Friday night and not have to do anything! I waited for Kiersty to get off of work that night, but she was there until like after midnight so we didn't get to go shopping like we had originally planned, however Saturday was a different story. Saturday, it was raining like all day, my roommate Annelise and I watched conference in our apartment. (Lisa had gone home for the weekend) It was really nice though, just Annelise and I because it was quiet and we could just watch it in peace, I was glad to be in an apartment where we actually wanted to watch conference! After the second session ended Kiersty came and picked me up and we went shopping. Instead of the gray pencil skirt that I really wanted to find, I found a brown plaid skirt, that I really, really like! It is way cute! After we went shopping we went out to dinner at Mimi's with Kiersty's friend Heather and her baby while Seth and Heather's husband Micah were at Priesthood. Then after dinner we went to Heather and Micah's and played games with them for a little while. Then we went to Kiersty's and I stayed the night there. The next morning I got up early and helped Kiersty make breakfast for her big party (which consisted of Heather and Micah and Megan, Kiersty and Seth and me) We had a wonderful breakfast of waffles, eggs, bacon, and the best part buttermilk syrup, although my waffles were kind of sad because Seth used all of their peanut butter and didn't tell anyone! But it was a wonderful breakfast! (especially my waffles) Then we enjoyed the morning session of Conference which was a really great one! In between sessions we ate some more and we played Rook and For Sale. Then we watched the second session of conference, which was a lot more sedate than the first because we were all getting kind of tired, probably because our tummies were so full from all the eating we were doing! Then after the session ended we played some more Rook and then we played a game called Settlers of Cataan, which is a fun game, but kind of confusing, and really really long! The game started to take so much time that we didn't have a huge desire to finish it completely by the end of it! After that game ended I don't really remember what we did, but I think we ate some more and probably played some more games while we watched Megan and the funny things she would do! Then Heather and Micah went home while we waited for some of my clothes to finish drying and then Kiersty took me home. I really love having Kiersty here! She is amazing and I love her so much! Then this past week passed pretty uneventfully until Friday... on Friday I ran into like 8 people from Twin two I hadn't seen since I got here and one of them I didn't even know was here... It was crazy! I love seeing people I have known for a long time! Then Saturday I got up late, which was wonderful because it is the first time I have gotten to sleep in in a long time! After I woke up I cleaned for quite a while. It was wonderful! I haven't had a chance to clean for a little while and it felt so good to be able to go into a clean bathroom and kitchen! (and bedroom) It also felt good because I felt like I was doing my part to make our little apartment a nicer place to live! After I cleaned I got ready for the day and then right before the game I ran to the store and got back a little after the game started so I got to the game a little late. (not unusual for me) I got to the game and for some reason once again our seats were really crowded which is so annoying, but I didn't feel like arguing so instead I just went up to the top and sat with Alyssa and her family. It was really fun because I haven't really seen her family in so long so it was great to see them and be able to talk to them, I really really love her family! At the game it was really crazy because when I was waiting to get food I discovered that I was two people behind Kathy Hansen, also known as the mother of Kalli's best friend in high school, Linz. It was so crazy because I almost didn't notice and then it was just a random thought that made me realize that it was her. So then I said hi and she remembered me and introduced me as Kalli's little sister Brittany to Linz's older sisters, who immediately knew who she was talking about and were excited by the fact that I was Kalli's little sister! It has been a while since I was called that so it was kind of fun! Then after the game (which we won) I walked with Alyssa back to her place because her parents were leaving from there as soon as they could. So while they waited for her brother to get back there I talked to them and I just realized how much I truly love Alyssa's mom and dad, they are so sweet and they always have been. Everytime I called from Mesa if they answered they never failed to ask how I was doing and often times they didn't even have to ask who it was, they could just tell it was me! They are two amazing people! While we were there Jessica came over for a little while so we could talk because she couldn't come over to my house that night like Alyssa so she came to say hi and chat for a little while. After Alyssa's parents left Alyssa and I went with her roommates Sarah and Kate and one of Sarah's friends from back home to Red Robin for some dinner. Sadly the wait at Red Robin was like an hour so we just ordered to go and then we all came back to my house to eat and it was so fun getting to know them all better! (I met Kate when Alyssa took me to the choir concert a few weeks ago, but I hadn't really met Sarah) After we finished eating everyone but Alyssa left and Alyssa and I took a trip down memory lane as we watched a movie together, just the two of us which is something we haven't done in ages! It was so fun to spend time with her and it was great because even though we weren't celebrating on her actual birthday we were still celebrating her birthday together which we haven't gotten to do in like three years! It was so fun! Then today I went to church, and while I was walking to church (which is like across a street from me) there was a snow flurry ocurring which is so crazy... I don't know that I am ready for cold weather again, but I guess I will just take it as it comes! After church I came home and made dinner for my roommates, and according to both of them it was pretty tasty! I made Hawaiian Haystacks, and I also thought they were pretty good, but I figured I would give you there word that it was good as well! While doing this I watched Pride and Prejudice for the first time since I got here and it was wonderful! That movie just gets better everytime in my opinion! It is just such a great love story! Well, that catches everyone up to date on my doings for the last little while, sorry I got so far behind, I will try not to do that again, but I can't make any promises! Oh, and just really quickly my exciting news for this coming week, my wonderful Aunt Ellen is taking me and Kiersty and her girls to see Aida at the Hale Theatre this week! It is a late birthday present for me and an early one for Kiersty and I can't wait!! It will be amazing I just know it! I don't care if this week will be crazy, getting to see Aida will make it all worth it! Anyway, here are some pictures from the past few weeks, I hope that everyone who reads this is doing amazingly well and that you are all enjoying the fall weather that has come! I love you all!

This is me and Alyssa with Cosmo! It was pretty exciting! This was actually from a game in the time period of the blog I wrote before this, but I thought it was pretty sweet so even though I didn't write about it, I thought I would share!

This is us at the Conference Center just before the Relief Society Broadcast! It is me and then Lisa's adopted sister (not really but that is what she calls her) Elise, Lisa's mom, Lisa and Annelise. And that is my new super cute jacket that I love!!

Us roomies inside the Conference Center waiting for the broadcast to start. It was such a fun and neat experience to have and to be able to go with my roommates was really neat!

We saw this couple after the broadcast, they had just gone to My Fair Lady and were in costume for the show and I thought their outfits were amazing!

The Salt Lake Temple is so beautiful! Especially at night!

After the broadcast we walked around Temple Square for a little while and I was really excited to go into the Tabernacle because I hadn't been inside since they finished it. It is such a pretty building! This picture I just wanted to share because I thought it looked pretty cool! Lisa isn't really sure what happened but it was just on an interesting setting on her camera!
We're all going there someday, maybe not to that one specifically but to one of the 128 temples around the world!

The three roomies!

Moving on continued/ college life

Well, now that it has been forever since I did any type of update for those of you who read my blog (I doubt it is very many) I figure I really should do something even if it is just a short one to let everyone know that I am still alive and well, as well as one year older! I met my roommates on the 27th of August. So far we have had minimal problems and all is well in our cute little apartment/dorm! (And it is super cute!) We are still trying to get everything set up how we want it but it gets cuter and cuter everyday as well as a bit messier everyday but we try to keep it clean. (except weeks like this when we all have a test to take every night after we finish with class and/or work) I officially moved my stuff in on the 30th of August when my parents got here with all of my stuff. It was pretty exciting to un pack all of my treasures and find new places to put each thing! And as funny as it may sound it was really exciting to make my bed and see it turn our (mine and Lisa's) room into a more inviting and actual bedroom! And now I have all of my pictures up all around including all over my closet door like they were before which makes it feel more and more like it is mine rather than some strange room that I have to sleep in! Although I am in college and lots has changed, not everything has changed, I still fall asleep way too many nights on our couch (which is surprisingly more comfortable than my bed) Anyway, the weekend that my parents were here was really great. I didn't go to the opening football game of the season because I spent it over at Ellen and Steve's with my parents and Kiersty and Seth, and I had no problem with that! I loved being able to spend as much time as possible with my amazing parents! That Sunday I had my first experience in a college singles ward. It was interesting mostly because we didn't have a normal church, we had a combined Sunday school/ relief society and priesthood and spent the whole 2 hours (or close to it) introducing ourselves, however because I was in the back row I never had to do it because we ran out of time. Then I spent that night at Kiersty and Seth's with my parents and Ellen and Steve and their kids, playing games and eating food! Then Labor day came and my parents had to go home... it was hard to see them go especially in the pouring rain, knowing they were headed back home to the wonderful sun, but I smiled and waved to them as they left and I survived it! That day I worked on getting all settled into my room and getting stuff ready for school and then Kiersty took me shopping so I could get some groceries to fill up my bare cupboards and fridge. Then Kiersty brought me back, I put all of my food away and she left me too. Then I spent the rest of the day trying to finish my summer reading... I know, I don't procrastinate at all! Oh and I almost forgot I found a job, not exactly what I was hoping for, but it gets me money and I have met some really nice people because of it. (I am working at the Cougar eat) So my first day of work was also my first day of school. I will spare you all the boring details, but so far school has been pretty crazy, but nothing too exciting. I think the most exciting thing that has happened is being able to see so many of my old friends again on top of meeting new ones! I have now turned in my first paper (not graded yet) and I have just survived my first week of exams (1 everyday this week except tomorrow) Also since the last time I blogged I have had a birthday! Yes, I am now 19, it is kind of crazy to me, but it is just one year older, I am not so sure about wiser just yet, but it's a nice thought! For my birthday my roommates made me a cake and our FHE group came over with brownies and we had a little double birthday party because it was another girl in our group had a birthday the Saturday before mine. The best part of my day was the wonderful package that my amazing and wonderful Mom sent me. I opened it and I just started crying because I love her so much and I was missing her a lot especially since it was my first birthday away from home. But then I opened it and it just made me happy. She knows me oh so well! Overall my birthday was pretty good until about 11 o'clock when I got an e-mail with some sad news. Since most of the people that read my blog are family they probably already know what I am talking about, but for those of you who aren't family and who don't know, I will share. My cousin (my mom's cousin's daughter) had an adorable little boy last October named Gavin. I have mentioned him just a little before when I went to the Ice cream social for him. Gavin was born with a liver disease and has been fighting for his life pretty much since I was born. As hard as it was on him, in every picture of him he looks so happy and I love his big brown eyes. The weekend before my birthday he went into the hospital and was struggling really hard for his life and sadly on Monday the 22nd he returned to the arms of his loving Heavenly Father. This news made the day kind of a tough one, but I am so glad that as sad as it was to hear, I am so grateful for the knowledge that I have of the plan of salvation. I am so happy that there is such a thing as a temple marriage and sealing which allows families to be together forever. I am also so thankful for the knowledge that children who have not reached the age of accountability return to their Father in Heaven. I am so glad I have the gospel in my life as well as the knowledge that I do of this life and the life to come. This experience also strenghtened my testimony of the priesthood because I could turn to my Bishop for a blessing when I struggled with this information on top of the stress from school and work. I send my love to all of my Randall/Brinton family. I hope you all know how much I love you all and how much I miss you. You guys are so amazing! I will try to keep up on here but there are no guaruntees because life gets kind of crazy! But I wouldn't miss a moment of it for the world! So good bye til the next time, here are some pictures to hold you over!
This was the first day I met my new roommates. Lisa and I are on the bed and Annelise is sitting on the chair.

This was on my birthday! Annelise, Lisa, and me!

Roomies again!

We were really excited...

And a little CRAZY!!!
