So the Friday after Labor day, I got roped into going on a hike with two of my roommates and a few guys in our ward. For those of you who know me, you know I am really not an outdoorsy person and by that I mean I very rarely choose to do anything in the dirt and heat if I can avoid it, especially hiking. But the guys told us it would just be a simple hike up to the Y and back down, maybe a little higher...they lied. Blake, the fearless leader of our little hiking group is basically under the impression that he is Bear Grylls from Man vs Wild and when we got to the bottom of the trail he decided that we should blaze our own trail. After a few protests we gave in convinced that he knew where he was taking us...he didn't. We started making our own trail convinced by Blake that it would save us 15 minutes...slowly we all began losing our confidence in Blake as a trail guide, but it was basically too late to turn back at that point so we kept going figuring that at some point we would make it to the Y and then we could easily make it back down from there. At one point we came to a rocky area where the rocks were really loose and we were basically having to flatten ourselves to the side of the mountain and that was about where I wanted to give up and find another way, and it was a good time to get out of the way but I wasn't quite fast enough! There was a rock rolling down the mountain right at me, luckily it wasn't too big but it did manage to catch my leg still. Basically there was a person on each side of me so I couldn't really move too much so instead I just spread my legs apart and braced myself and I managed to get my leg far enough apart for it to just scrape my leg rather than break it or something like that...after that I decided that I wanted to find another way to go so one of the guys was nice enough to go with me a slightly safer way. My roommate also got a nice cut on the back of her leg, which is why we call this the "hike of death"! Luckily, and probably because we had some angels watching over us, we all survived and made it home that night to tell the story to everyone else!

What in the world! I'm glad you're not dead. ;) And I look forward to seeing you in a little over a week.
LOVING. the battle wound. Battle wounds mean you're hard core. ;) You should see the progress of my bruises from ice skating!
Boys! I'm glad you made it up and out alive... but don't ever go hiking with those boys again :)
me & the hike to the Y = never again. I would rather go on another hike...I have only gone once.
I am glad you know how to position your legs so nothing terrible happened.
